Hasan Elahi

I really enjoyed Hasan’s presentation, it was very interesting and made me think about some topics that haven’t entered my head before. I loved how he said that artists luxury of taking risks, which I never thought about but it’s very true. He had the example of his idea that these certain plants would take the metal out of the ground. If a major company were to do that, it just wouldn’t work because they have no room to fail. But artists are able to try it and if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. They just move on to the next project. I really enjoy how that principle will apply to either one of my career paths of a graphic designer or a DJ & music producer.

Self portrait of artist I like: Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is definitely one of, if not my favorite artist. His works inspires my art so much. I love his pop-art style, and I love how he incorporated it into his self portrait. It’s definitely recognizable as a Warhol piece the instant you see it.

Self portrait of artist I dislike: Edvard Munch

I don’t necessarily dislike Munch, but I’m not a fan of his self portrait. It’s very dull and unexpressive. Unless he’s a dull person, it doesn’t really show his personality which in my opinion is the key to the self portrait.

Listen to a very brief snippet of what seems to be new (and quite funky) Daft Punk music from an ad that aired during last night’s “SNL”. Someone was nice enough to loop the clip’s audio for 10 minutes, too.

Today is the 46th anniversary of the birth of Kurt Cobain. We didn’t have him very long but  what an impact he made.

Mark Richardson writes about Kurt Cobain’s journey from being a guy in a band to an idea that keeps cycling through culture in different ways in his latest Resonant Frequency column.
